Antonio Palmero

Antonio was introduced into sport and martial arts in his early childhood, and his fascination in finding and learning more about how the body works, drove him to study for 4 years in general medicine in Spain. During that time he also became a Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Yoga Instructor as well as being heavily involved in the promotion and teaching of the Canary Islands pre-hispanic practice of the "Salto del Pastor" or the Shepherds Leap, an ancient tradition unique to the Canaries which uses long poles to overcome the numerous cliffs of some of the islands. He was also practiced at the time "el Juego del palo Canario" a form of stick fencing also part of the Canary Islands cultural heritage. Antonio believes that the focus, body awareness, and relaxation required to practise such sports in a safe and fluid manner, strongly influenced his further studies and development as a Manual Therapist.

Antonio moved to the UK during his early twenties. He then lived in London for 16 years where he became a Doctor in Chinese Medicine and pursued further training on Qi Gong and Internal martial arts. He also trained professionally in Swedish, Sports, Thai, and Hawaiian Massage, as well as Sports Therapy Equipment, Stress Management, Reflexology, and a 1-year course in Sports Foundation. He then went on to China where he spent about 6 months observing and practising Chinese medicine in several Beijing hospitals. During his time in China he also took some instructor training on Medical Qi Gong.

Antonio moved with his family to New Zealand about 12 years ago.
